Join Meredith (our mum) and learn all about the basics of hand sewing. This is your chance to spend some time with a real-life mum and learn all the basic sewing skills you wish you were taught when you were little. 

Meredith will guide you through every step of your beginner’s journey from threading a needle to your final hidden knot. 

Skills you can learn: 

• How to read a pattern
• Embroidery basics and beyond
• The best way to cut out pattern pieces. 
• Different embroidery stitches  
• Basic toy making  
• How to stuff your toys without lumpy limbs 
• And so much more

Time: 1 – 2:30pm

Things to know: 

You don’t need to know anything! These classes are for absolute beginners and no skills are necessary. 

However… 

These classes are for adults only.

There isn’t a set project and materials aren’t included but Meredith has designed a beautiful sampler which will give you the opportunity to practice all of your stitches before you embark on your projects. A kit for the sampler will be available to purchase at the time of the class. We will also have some recommended projects and some kits available otherwise you can bring your own project.

This class is for hand sewing skills only and will not cover use of sewing machines, dressmaking, needle felting etc. 

Basic tools scissors, needles etc. will be available for use during class time. 

We will be keeping our class sizes to 4 participants so that you can receive individualised help. 

Meredith is enjoying retired life! If she is away on holiday one of Winterwood’s extremely knowledgeable other “mums” will step in and run the class.
